A pink sauce

Penne alla vodka

What vodka sauce usually is, and the pasta and pie our menu actually names.

· Brooklyn's Finest

Vodka sauce is a tomato-cream sauce

Penne alla vodka is tube pasta in a sauce that starts like a tomato sauce and finishes with cream, so the color goes pink. A little vodka is the traditional splash. It cooks off in a normal sauce. The dish is Italian-American more than it is a fixed Roman classic, and every shop's version is heavier or lighter depending on the cream. Garlic and a bit of chili are common. None of that is a recipe card from our kitchen.

At Brooklyn's Finest Pizza the pasta is listed as pasta with vodka sauce, $14.99, described as pasta in vodka sauce. The section lets you choose spaghetti, linguine, ziti, penne, or rigatoni, and gluten-free pasta is available. Penne is the shape in the famous name. If you want a different shape, say so. If gluten-free is a medical need, call (718) 815-7070 before you treat the menu note as a separate pan. The photo on this page is penne in that pink sauce.

There is also a pie

Penne vodka pizza is a specialty large, $22.99, 8 slices, described as mozzarella and creamy vodka sauce. That is a pie, not a bowl. People order it when they want the sauce on dough. Order the pasta when you want the bowl. Do not expect the pie to arrive with a side of penne unless you added the pasta.

Penne vodka catering is a tray: half for 6–9 people, full for 10–15. The catering line says penne with our homemade vodka sauce. Check the tray price on the catering page or in the cart. A $14.99 plate is one dinner. It is not a tray. The weekend special uses penne vodka or baked ziti as the pasta choice next to chicken. Read that flyer on the specials page and order it as written. Do not add a coupon.

What we will not pretend to publish

We are not printing ounces of cream, a vodka brand, or a simmer time. The menu says vodka sauce. That is enough to order the dish and not enough to copy it. A home version is tomato, a splash of vodka, and cream tossed with penne. Cook the alcohol off. Do not flambé it at the table. That home note is not our sauce.

Vodka sauce is not Alfredo. Alfredo is the white cream sauce on the fettuccine. Vodka sauce is the pink one. Baked ziti is tomato and mozzarella, baked. If the table wants red sauce without cream, order marinara or baked ziti by those names. The fettuccine Alfredo post is the white sauce if that was the mix-up.

How to order it

Order at Order Online, which is order.brooklynsfinestsi.com, or call (718) 815-7070. On an iPhone or iPad, the app sends the same menu. The shop is at 1250 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10305. Hours run until 10:00 PM, and until 10:30 PM on Friday and Saturday. Sit down, pick up, or check delivery inside 4 miles. Say the shape if you do not want penne. Say gluten-free if you need it.

Penne alla vodka here is the pink sauce on pasta, $14.99, plus a pie and a tray that use the same sauce family. Order the one that matches the head count. A plate feeds one person. A tray feeds the group on the catering card. The cart is the price if the menu number moves. Come hungry. It is a rich bowl, not a side you forget you added.

A practical order says the shape, the sauce, and whether anyone needs gluten-free pasta, all in one sentence. Penne and vodka sauce is the famous pairing. Ziti or rigatoni in the same sauce is still our pasta list if you ask for that shape. A pie with creamy vodka sauce is the other way to eat it, and it is 8 slices, so it feeds more than one bowl does. If the table wants both, put both on the ticket instead of hoping the kitchen guesses. Add a salad if the cream feels like a lot. Add garlic knots if you want bread that is not a pie. Leave the vodka bottle at home. The sauce is cooked. This is dinner, not a drink menu, and we do not list cocktails next to the pasta.

Pickup is the easy path when you want the bowl hot. Delivery inside 4 miles works when checkout accepts the address, and a cream sauce is happier if the ride is short. Say the name on the ticket. If you are comparing pink sauce with white sauce, order one vodka and one Alfredo and let people taste, rather than making the whole table live with one choice. Prices stay on the menu and in the cart. A blog can point at $14.99. The screen you pay is the one that counts if the kitchen changes the number. Come to 1250 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10305 when you want the bowl from this kitchen, and order the pasta by its sauce, not by a photo from another restaurant. A pink sauce is still a full dinner. Pair it with a salad if you want something cold, or with a small pie if the table wants bread that is not a knot. Say penne unless you picked another shape. Then eat it while the cream is hot.
