A meal, and the rest of the day

Things to do in Staten Island

We run a pizzeria, not a visitor bureau. Here is a plain way to spend the day and still eat.

· Brooklyn's Finest

Start with the limit

Things to do in Staten Island is a tourism search. Brooklyn's Finest Pizza is a restaurant at 1250 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10305. We do not sell tickets, we do not run a ferry, and we will not invent hours for parks and museums. If a place below matters to your day, use that place's own site for the time, the price, and whether it is open. This post is the meal in the middle of the day, plus a few stops people already know.

The island is bigger than one neighborhood. The shop is on the East Shore, on Hylan Boulevard, in 10305. South Beach and Midland Beach are the nearby shore. New Dorp and Great Kills are south. The North Shore and Tottenville are real drives. Plan the day in one part of the island if you do not want to spend it in the car.

Stops people already name

The Staten Island Ferry between the island and Manhattan is the classic crossing. Confirm the schedule on the city's own page before you build a day around a boat. The boardwalk along the East Shore is the outdoor walk nearest this shop, at South Beach and Midland Beach. Snug Harbor, on the North Shore, is the cultural campus people mean when they want gardens and old buildings. Those are public places with their own rules. We are not their front desk.

Farther south, Tottenville and Conference House Park are the end of the island, not a stop on the way to Hylan. If that is the day, eat down there or plan a real drive. Our Tottenville page is honest about the distance: pickup unless checkout accepts the address. Do not add our pies to a South Shore itinerary and assume a driver.

Put the meal on the plan

A useful Staten Island day still needs food. If you are on the East Shore, the dining room at 1250 Hylan Boulevard is pies, heroes, pasta, and entrées until 10:00 PM, or 10:30 PM on Friday and Saturday. A slice is $2.99 if you are between stops. A large is 8 slices if the car is full. We do not take reservations for a normal table. Walk in, or order ahead for pickup.

There is no brunch menu and no late-night close. A morning that starts at 8:00 AM is not our kitchen. We open at 10:00 AM, and at 10:30 AM on Sunday. The brunch page says that plainly. Build the morning around something else, then eat here when we are open.

What this list refuses to be

We will not rank beaches, invent a festival calendar, or describe restaurants we do not run. The Hylan Boulevard post is how to think about eating on the road this shop sits on, without knocking the other kitchens. Use their sites for their hours.

Order at Order Online, which is order.brooklynsfinestsi.com, or call (718) 815-7070. On an iPhone or iPad, the app sends the same menu. If the thing to do is eat, start with the menu. If the thing to do is a walk and then a pie, the boardwalk and then 1250 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10305 is a simple version of the day. Check the weather yourself. We sell pizza. We do not sell the forecast.

Keep the day in one area if you can. The East Shore is the shop, the boardwalk, and a straight ride on Hylan. The North Shore is a different trip, toward Snug Harbor and the ferry. The far South Shore is another. Trying to do all three and still sit down for a pie is how the day becomes a car ride. Pick one, eat when we are open, and use the other boroughs of the city on a different day. We open at 10:00 AM, later on Sunday, and we close by 10:30 PM. A plan that needs food at 8:00 AM or midnight needs a different kitchen.

If you are visiting and the only decision left is dinner, walk in. No reservation for a normal table. Pies, heroes, and pasta are the menu. A slice is enough between stops. A large is enough for the car. Delivery is 4 miles from this door, which will not help you if you are standing at the ferry terminal unless checkout says the address works. Pickup is simpler. The location page has the map. Things to do in Staten Island can be a long list on someone else's site. On this one, the useful addition is a real address for dinner after you have done whatever you came to do. The ferry, the boardwalk, and a campus like Snug Harbor are other people's places. Confirm their hours on their own sites. Then eat on Hylan if you are on this side of the island. A slice between stops, a pie if the car is full, a table if you want to sit. We open late morning and close by 10:30 PM. We do not run tours. We do run a dining room, and the map is on the location page. Use the day for the island. Use the shop for the meal. Those are separate plans that happen to fit in the same afternoon if you leave time for both.
