Disco fries

The diner plate, and the $9.49 item on our menu that matches the idea.

Disco fries are a diner plate

Disco fries are french fries topped with mozzarella and brown gravy, the kind of late plate North Jersey diners made famous. The cheese melts. The gravy salts the fries. The name is newer than the plate. People argue about whether the cheese has to be mozzarella and whether the gravy has to be brown. The plate people mean is potatoes, melted cheese, and gravy, eaten with a fork.

Our menu item is named French Fries with Melted Mozzarella and Brown Gravy, $9.49. The description says french fries topped with delicious gravy. The name carries the mozzarella. The description carries the gravy. Together they are the disco fries plate, under a longer name. We are not adding chicken, bacon, or a cheese sauce the item does not list. Plain french fries and fries with cheese are separate appetizers if you do not want the gravy.

What else is fried on the same menu

Mozzarella sticks, buffalo fries, and sweet potato fries are different orders. Hot honey fries are in the hot honey section, not this plate. A hot dog is $4.49 if the fries were only half the thought. The hot dogs page is that item. Disco fries are the $9.49 plate. Do not expect them to come beside the hot dog unless you added both.

They are a side or a snack for the table, richer than a plain fry. One order can be shared. Two orders are for people who actually want a pile. They are not a substitute for a pie if the group came for pizza. Add the pie. The fries are the extra.

They do not travel forever

Gravy and melted cheese are best hot. A long delivery cools the cheese into a sheet. Pickup or eating in the dining room is the better plan. If you are sending them, eat them when they arrive, not an hour later. Reheating gravy fries in a hot oven is possible and not as good as the first plate. That is practical advice, not a shop method.

Hours run until 10:00 PM, and until 10:30 PM on Friday and Saturday. We are not a diner that stays open past midnight. The late night page says the close out loud. Disco fries after 10:30 are someone else's kitchen.

Order the long name

Order at Order Online, which is order.brooklynsfinestsi.com, or call (718) 815-7070. On an iPhone or iPad, the app sends the same menu. The shop is at 1250 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10305. Delivery inside 4 miles if checkout accepts it. Say the full fry name so the kitchen does not send plain fries.

Disco fries here are the mozzarella and brown gravy fries at $9.49. Plain fries are the other item. Hot honey fries are a third. Pick the gravy plate when that is the one you meant, add a pie or a hero if you are actually eating dinner, and skip any diner recipe that adds toppings we did not print. The menu has the line under burgers and hot dogs, which is where people miss it if they only search the pizza names.

Share one order if the fries are a side. Order a second if the table came for the fries. They are richer than a $3.99 knot and smaller than a pie. A hot dog at $4.49 can sit next to them if someone wants a sandwich that is not a hero. A burger is the larger sandwich on that same part of the menu. None of those arrive on the fry plate unless you added them. Say the fry name in full so melted mozzarella and brown gravy are both in the request. Plain fries with cheese are a different appetizer. Buffalo fries are another. The disco plate is the gravy one.

Eat them at the counter or on a short ride home. Gravy congeals. Cheese sets. A long delivery across the island is the wrong plan for this item even when the address is inside 4 miles. If you are already out for a pie, add the fries and eat them first. If you only wanted a diner plate after midnight, we are closed. The close is 10:00 or 10:30. Order while the kitchen is open, sit down if you can, and treat the $9.49 plate as the snack it is. The pie is still the reason most people came. The fries are the extra that makes the box feel like a diner for ten minutes. Order them by the long name, eat them before the pie if they are in the same bag, and do not expect a diner that stays open past our close. Mozzarella, brown gravy, fries, $9.49. That is the plate. Plain fries are the other choice. Hot honey fries are the spicy one. Pick one and say it. A fork helps. A long ride does not. Sit down if you want the cheese still stretchy. The counter is at 1250 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10305, and the menu files the plate with the burgers, which is why a pizza-only scan misses it.
