Start with the slice, not the pie
How many pizzas for 20 people is a slice question wearing a pie costume. Decide how many slices each person will eat, multiply by 20, then divide by the number of slices in the pie you are actually buying. Shops cut larges differently. At Brooklyn's Finest Pizza a large round cheese pie is 8 slices, $19.49. Specialty larges are 8 slices too. A Sicilian and a grandma are 8 as well. Use 8. Do not use a chain's 10-slice large for our boxes.
Two slices a person is a modest plate, especially if there is other food. Twenty times two is 40 slices. Forty divided by 8 is 5 larges. Three slices a person is a hungry room or a pizza-only meal. Twenty times three is 60 slices, which is 7.5 larges, so you order 8. Those are planning numbers, not a guarantee. Teenagers, a table that already ate, and a table that skipped lunch are different rooms.
When some people will not eat pizza
Subtract them before you multiply. If five of the twenty want heroes, you are feeding 15 with pizza. At two slices each, that is 30 slices, which is four larges with a couple of slices left, so many hosts still order five. Order the heroes as heroes. A chicken parm hero is one sandwich, not a slice. The hero catering page is the long sandwich if the non-pizza group is large. A 3-foot serves 10. A 6-foot serves 20. That may replace pies, not sit on top of eight of them, if the budget matters.
Kids often eat less. A guest who only wants one slice should be counted as one slice, not three. Write the real list. A round number of pies that ignores the list is how you end up with four untouched boxes or a table still hungry.
Squares, trays, and the extra pie
A thick Sicilian slice fills a person faster than a thin round. If half the order is square, you can sometimes drop a pie. If you have never fed this group our square, do not drop the pie. Order one Sicilian and keep the rounds. The square-pie post is the difference.
Pasta trays change the math. A half tray serves 6–9 and a full tray serves 10–15. A full tray of baked ziti plus three larges can feed 20 better than eight pies, if the group wants a plate and not only slices. See catering. Add one extra pie rather than rounding down. Leftover pizza reheats. A short order does not. The reheating post is what to do with the extra slices the next day.
Place the order like a head count
Order at Order Online, which is order.brooklynsfinestsi.com, or call (718) 815-7070. On an iPhone or iPad, the app sends the same menu. Say the number of larges and whether any are Sicilian. Put one name on a 20-person pickup. Hours run until 10:00 PM, and until 10:30 PM on Friday and Saturday. Delivery inside 4 miles has to be confirmed at checkout before you promise the host a driver. Pickup at 1250 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10305 is the sure plan for a stack of pies.
How many pizzas for 20 people, using our large, is five if you are planning two slices each and eight if you are planning three. Change the number when heroes or a tray take people off the pizza count. Then order one more if you are nervous. That is the whole method. It is not a coupon, and it is not a per-person package. The parties page is the call if those 20 people are coming to the dining room instead of eating the pies at a house.
Put the order in writing before you call. Five cheese larges is a different ticket from three cheese, one Sicilian, and one pepperoni. Specialty pies have their own prices. A large cheese is $19.49. A named specialty is not automatically the same number. Garlic knots for 20 people are more than one $3.99 order. Say how many. A full tray of pasta covers 10–15 of those people and lets you drop a pie or two if you meant to. Do that math on purpose. Do not do it in the car.
One name, one pickup time, one address. If delivery is the hope, test the address at checkout before you tell 20 people a driver is coming. Four miles is the limit. A house outside it is a pickup. Stack the boxes so the squares do not crush the rounds, and plan to eat them soon. Leftovers are fine the next day in a hot oven. They are not a reason to under-order. Five larges at two slices each is the modest plan. Eight is the hungry plan. The nervous plan is one more than whichever of those you chose. Then stop. Twenty people do not need twenty pies. Five larges is the two-slice plan. Eight is the three-slice plan. Heroes and a pasta tray take people off that count. Order one extra only if you know this group eats. Put one name on the pickup. Test delivery before you promise a driver. Then stop adding pies. Leftovers reheat. A short order does not. The math is slices divided by eight, using the large we actually cut, at 1250 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10305, not a chart from a chain that cuts differently. Write the number down. Call it in. Feed the room.
